About Us
The classical string duo, The Alinga Duo was formed in 2005, when two Australian musicians met in Groningen, the Netherlands. Violinist, Melanie Waite and cellist, Zoe Wallace came to Groningen to further their musical education and have been playing as a duo ever since. In addition to playing as a duo, Zoe and Melanie are also both members of the chamber orchestra Camerata Ardesko. The duo's name Alinga, is the Australian aboriginal word meaning sun.
Based in the north of the Netherlands, the performances of the Alinga Duo have been many and varied. With a wide range of repertoire, they have given concerts and played at weddings, parties and conferences. Their most unusual performance would have to be a classical concert given in the middle of the Plaza Sportiva fitness centre whilst members carried on with their workouts around them.
The Alinga Duo is available for bookings, if you have any questions or would like to inquire about our availability, please contact us via the contact page.
