Melanie Waite
Melanie Waite was born in Sydney, Australia and began her musical studies on piano at age 6. At 12 she started playing viola, and after highschool she went on to study and graduate from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with distinction on this instrument. During her conservatorium years Melanie also worked with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony Sinfonia. In what was a huge life change, Melanie switched from viola to violin the year after graduation and moved to the Netherlands to study with Berent Korfker in Amsterdam. She is currently in her final year at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen where she studies with Florian Donderer, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie concertmaster.
Since Melanie's first orchestra rehearsal, her real passion has always been playing in orchestra. She is the current concertmaster and one of the founding members of the emerging chamber orchestra Camerata Ardesko. Camerata Ardesko which gave its first concert series in February 2007, is an exciting new chamber orchestra for young professional musicians that strives to give performances which are thrilling and engaging for the audience. From the moment Melanie picked up a viola, she has been the member of many orchestras and toured most continents of the world. She has held numerous principal positions including with JMWO World Youth Orchestra, IOIA orchestra of Austria, the Australian Youth Orchestra and Symphonic Music Connection-orchestra of the Max Proms.
